Course Overview
The Fellowship in Simulation-Based Medical Education (FSBME) is a comprehensive, three-tiered
national certification program jointly offered by IASSH and ISA. It prepares participants to become
skilled simulation educators capable of leading simulation programs, conducting effective debriefing,
and advancing patient safety. Participants receive the FSBME Fellowship at the end of Year 1, after
which continuation into Year 2 (Assistant Facilitator Certification) and Year 3 (Facilitator Certification)
is optional.

Function as a certified simulation educator.

Develop academic/clinical curriculum for simulation-based teaching-training.

Conduct structured skill/procedural (technical/non-technical) stations

Facilitate crisis resource management (CRM) and team-based simulation session.

Perform structured, evidence-based debriefing.

Use simulation for competency-based assessment (summative and formative) & evaluation.

Apply simulation for patient safety, quality improvement & systems testing.

Initiate simulation-based research and low-cost innovation .
